Crisis Support for Widows
Background: Ongoing crisis in the northwest and southwest regions
Since 2016, the North West and South West regions of Cameroon have been affected by an escalating crisis that has led to widespread insecurity, displacement and humanitarian need. According to the Humanitarian Needs Overview 2021, 4.4 million people in Cameroon were in need of humanitarian assistance, with the North West region particularly affected .
The ongoing violence has affected agricultural production, destroyed markets and disrupted supply chains, leading to increased food insecurity. Widows in remote areas such as Njikwa have been particularly hard hit by these effects.
Solidarity in times of crisis: Our support for widows in Njikwa, Cameroon.
For several years, our organization has continuously supported widows in Njikwa, a rural community in Cameroon’s Northwest Region, with essential food supplies. This initiative is part of our commitment to help the most vulnerable population groups in a region affected by ongoing conflicts and humanitarian challenges.
Supply challenges.
Delivering relief supplies to Njikwa is extremely difficult due to the poor infrastructure and insecure security situation. Despite these challenges, we have managed to regularly distribute food parcels to meet the immediate needs of the women affected.
Outlook
Our organization plans to continue and expand its support for widows in Njikwa. In addition to food aid, future initiatives should also include income generation and psychosocial support programs to strengthen the resilience of the affected women in the long term.
Humanitarian Aid
In the midst of the ongoing crisis in Cameroon’s communities, which has hit many families hard, countless children are without parents and in great need. This places an enormous burden on local orphanages, which often struggle to meet the growing needs of these children.
Providing Hope for Orphaned Children
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, we have provided essential supplies such as food, hygiene items, clothing and other basic necessities as part of our aid program. Beyond material support, we spent time with the children, listened to their stories, shared moments of joy with them and gave them a sense of belonging and security.
We remain committed to supporting orphaned and displaced children through sustainable and compassionate initiatives that address both their immediate and long-term needs.
We thank all of our supporters who have made these efforts possible. Your generosity continues to bring light to lives affected by darkness.
Working Together for Change
We are pleased to announce that our project “Women Empowerment through Sustainable Apiculture in Ngoudal, Adamawa Region, Cameroon” has been awarded the Diaspora Prize 2024 in the category “Environment: Ecological and Sustainable Living”. This recognition honors our commitment to sustainable development and the empowerment of women through environmentally friendly beekeeping in Cameroon.
Empowering women through sustainable beekeepingIn the Ngoudal region of Cameroon, we offer training and resources in sustainable beekeeping to single women with limited income opportunities. This program gives them the opportunity to generate their own income, promote their economic independence and contribute to environmental protection at the same time.
A contribution to the global sustainability goals Our project contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the area of environmental sustainability. By promoting environmentally friendly practices and empowering women, we are making an important contribution to sustainable development in the region.
Recognition and outlook Being awarded the Diaspora Prize 2024 motivates us to continue our work and empower more women through sustainable beekeeping. We would like to thank the African Network Bremen e.V. and all our partners for their support and recognition of our efforts.
